About Mrs Mac's

Soon after my grandson was born, in early 1999, my daughter asked me why I hadn't knitted him anything. This got me thinking and sewed the seed for me opening a Wool Shop in our village of Mumbles, which is on the Gower Peninsula in South Wales. I had previously had a Wool Shop many years before in Devon when my own daughter was a small child. The prospect of opening another one was quite exciting! My husband was often away with work at the time so the shop was to be "My Hobby", and I opened it in October 1999.

To get the shop up and running and to draw in custom, I started out with a Coffee Shop in it too. However, it soon became obvious that I needed more space for the wool, so the something had to give. Now I just have loads of Wool and stock the whole range of Rowan. I also stock most lines of Debbie Bliss and Noro. Obviously I have pattern books, knitting needles along with a variety of buttons to finish off your creations too.

People seem to come from far and wide to visit my shop which made me think that having a web page would be great to spread the wonderful world of knitting even further and to enable those who couldn't get here to experience the joy of this hobby as well. I bought my first ever computer in August 2007 and I am coming to grips with this electronic world bit by bit with the help of my daughter and son-in-law.

I pride myself in the fact that I am more than just another supplier of yarns and will go out of my way to help knitters with any knitting queries they may have. I would like to think that the personal touch isn't lost in this new electronic world, so I welcome phone calls or e-mails on all knitting topics.

So, what started out as "just a hobby" has turned out to be a thriving business and I hope that you will discover the pleasure of knitting too.
